Kangeiko Workout

January 25, 2025

Lincoln Martial Arts Center

Each January, LMAC traditionally observes Kangeiko, which means winter training. Traditionally held during the coldest part of winter,  Kangeiko will begin on January 6th and run through February 9th this year.  During this time, we make an effort to put extra emphasis on our training, attending as many classes as possible and supplementing our training in various ways outside the dojo.  We also make an effort to improve our mental and physical health during this time by getting plenty of rest at night and improving our diet.  The January 25th training will run from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and is open to all LMAC and SRSBK members from all arts and dojos.  This is an important part of starting the New Year out on a positive note and reinvigorate our dedication to training for the coming year.  There is no fee to participate.

2025 LMAC Judo Kata Clinic

February 28 - March 1, 2025

Lincoln Martial Arts Center

LMAC is excited to announce the dates for the 2025 Judo Kata Clinic!  If you would like to learn more or would like to refine your Kata technique, LMAC is hosting a Judo Kata clinic featuring Eiko Shepherd Sensei.  Shepherd Sensei was the first woman to compete with men at the Kodokan in Japan. She is a USA Judo certified international coach, master level judo teacher and National Class A kata judge as well as the Vice Chairperson of Kata. She is also the Chairperson of USJF kata committee and a USJF CLASS A Kata instructor. She has been the National Youth Kata coordinator since 1997. Shepherd Sensei also acted as the women’s head coach for the 1993 US Olympic festival.  Click the button below for the flyer and to register by mail or on-line.

Every Saturday in January and February, except January 25, we will be offering a judo kata class from 12:00 – 12:30.  In these classes we will be focusing on the different kata that Shepherd Sensei will be teaching us in February.  These introductory classes will allow you to get a head start on the kata, and participation is free for LMAC members.  If you are not sure you want to attend the kata judo clinic come try out the different kata and see if it is for you.   Make it part of your Kangeiko training routine!
